Why Embers?
The name Embers came from the idea that even when life feels difficult, overwhelming or uncertain, something of ourselves can remain — even if it doesn't always feel that way.
I didn't want Embers Therapy to be about fixing people or telling them how they should live their lives. I wanted to create the kind of counselling space I believe in: warm, genuine, accepting and somewhere you can bring whatever is happening for you without fear of judgement.
I'm Phil, a qualified integrative counsellor with a person-centred approach at the heart of my work. I believe that you are the expert on your own experience, and my role isn't to give you answers, but to work alongside you as you explore what feels important.
Alongside my private practice, I also work in further education, teaching counselling. My professional background has given me the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and experiences, but I try never to assume that somebody's label, diagnosis or circumstances tell me who they are.
Above all, I aim to offer counselling that feels human. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to say or what you want to change. We can begin wherever you are.
