Frequently Asked Questions

What types of counselling do you offer?
I provide integrative counselling, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches to suit your individual needs. Sessions can be face-to-face, online, or over the phone.

How long is a session?
Each counselling session lasts for 50 minutes.

How much does counselling cost?
Sessions are £45 per session. Concessions may be available — feel free to ask.

How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on your needs. Some people benefit from short-term counselling, while others find longer-term support more helpful. We can discuss this together and review as we go.

Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Everything we talk about is treated in confidence, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. The only exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law.

Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can contact me directly to arrange counselling.

What issues can counselling help with?
Counselling can help with a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, bereavement, stress, low self-esteem, relationship problems, and life changes.

What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to share what brings you to counselling. We’ll talk through your needs, answer any questions you may have, and agree whether we feel comfortable working together.

How do I know if counselling is right for me?
Counselling can help if you are experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, loss, relationship issues, or simply feeling stuck. It provides a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings with professional support.

How are sessions held?
Sessions are available online, by telephone, or face-to-face across the North West of England. You can choose the format that works best for you.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel a session, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full.
